The Windham Rail Trail Alliance announced today that work on a quarter mile stretch of the trail will shut down the section for the next three to four weeks.
The announcement was made on the organization's Facebook page.
According to the WRTA, the stretch from Roulston Road to the Route 111 bridge will receiving work on drainage and grading as part of the first phase of construction.
Phase two will result in pavement on that section.
Plans to pave another stretch of the trail from the Route 111 bridge south will take place no later than next summer, contingent on a 25 percent funding match as required by the Transportation Enhancement Grant awarded to the Southern N.H. Rail Trail Coalition.
Of those $1.6 million in funds, Windham was allotted $144,000.
The work was approved by Selectmen in January 2012.
