2. WINDHAM CROSSING LEARNING CENTER OPEN HOUSE: The daycare/preschool/kindergarten will hold an open house on Oct. 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Face painting, a craft corner, pumpkin decorating, refreshments and an opportunity to meet teachers and staff will be available.

3. 2ND CD DEBATE: Squaring off in a debate hosted by WBIN tonight will be U.S. Rep. Charles Bass and his Democratic opponent Ann McLane Kuster. The debate will start at 8 p.m. and will take place at the WBIN station in Derry.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: The United States Naval Academy opens in Annapolis, Maryland, with 50 midshipmen students and seven professors.
