2. TOM MURPHY IS THE TOP DOG ( OR JAGUAR...?): Windham High School Principal Tom Murphy was named New Hampshire Principal of the Year on Thursday. He already knew of the honor after finding out just after Christmas, but he received an awesome plaque with his face on it while at a workshop in Meredith, N.H. Congratulations to Tom!

3. BUDGET AND BOND HEARING TONIGHT: The school board will meet at 7 p.m. in the WHS auditorium for a budget and bond hearing.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On January 11, 1908, U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt declares the massive Grand Canyon in northwestern Arizona a national monument.

5. A TABLET AS THIN AS PAPER: This isn't a joke. Earlier this week, Mashable reported on a new piece of technology called PaperTab, which is a tablet as thin as paper. According to the report, the product was introduced on Tuesday at CES 2013. Find out more here.
