House Committee to Vote on Casino Bill Today

2. CASINO BILL VOTE TODAY: a 45-member subcommittee will make a decision on Senate Bill 152, also known as the expanded gambling bill. The House panel will meet at 1 p.m. at the Legislative Office Building in Concord.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: A particularly intense tornado hits Sherman, Texas, on this day in 1896, and kills 73 people. It is estimated that the tornado was a rare F5 tornado, in which winds exceeded 260 miles per hour. Storms of that strength happen, on average, less than once a year.
