As part of the milestone for the community organization, we will feature letters over the next few months on Windham Patch.
Here is a message from Helping Hands board member Patti Letizio regarding the anniversary:

Dear Fellow Residents,
10 years ago, one individual followed through with an idea that every one of our Windham students should begin the new school year with needed clothing and classroom supplies. This idea grew to include lending a helping hand to families throughout the year and in a variety of ways. Celebrating our 10th year of reaching out, Windham's Helping Hands would like to share how this organization, with the assistance of the community, has impacted the lives of our neighbors. Since WHH most often works anonymously with families, we are honored to have the opportunity and the permission to share some heartfelt experiences with you over the next few months. We also thank residents and businesses in the community for their continued support.

The first letter to Windham Helping Hands is below:
Dear Helping Hands,
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for everything you have done for my family…the easier, happier transitions back to school; the full stomachs at Thanksgiving dinner; Christmas mornings filled with laughter, excitement, peace and joy; warmer winters; amazing memories. I don’t know how to express on this paper the gratitude that I feel. I can write it, I can say it, but it still isn’t enough. I have shed a river of tears and had a million sleepless nights over the things I can’t provide for my family. But, I have shed a river of happy tears and actually slept a night through thanks to your organization.
Please pass this note along to each and every one who is a part of Windham’s Helping Hands. I want all to know how grateful I am for the many smiles my children and my family have shared due to their generosity and assistance. Many memories would not have been possible without them all. I am so amazingly blessed for many reasons in my life, Helping Hands is right there on top.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!
Bless you all.
