Man Apprehended in Windham After Shooting At Police

Two men were arrested in Windham after leading officers on a car chase and firing a gun at officers.

WINDHAM, NH - Two men were arrested after a car chase that started in Massachuestts and ended in a car crash in Windham.

According to Haverhill Police, two men, Manuel Antonio Soto, 20, of Haverhill, Massachusetts and Javonnie Chambers, 21, of Berlin, NH alledgedly were driving through Haverhill when they began firing a handgun from their car at an unknown target.

"While in pursuit of the suspects, shots were fired at our officers from the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle crashed in New Hampshire and one suspect was quickly taken into custody," Haverhill Police wrote on Facebook. "New Hampshire State Police, Massachusetts State Police along with local jurisdictions are currently searching for the second suspect. All Haverhill officers involved are unharmed. We would like to thank our brave officers for their dedication and commitment to protect the citizens of Haverhill. We are here when you need us, ready to protect, proud to serve.'

The two suspects were caught when the driver, Soto crashed at the intersection of Interstate 93 and Route 111 in Windham.

Soto was immediately taken into custody, but the Chambers took off into the woods but was located near Exit 4 shortly after.

Police said they located a gun, along with two magazines, in the passenger side of the car.
