NH's Corey Lewandowski On Detained Girl With Down: 'Womp Womp'
Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump's former campaign manager, said "Womp womp" about a detained 10-year-old Mexican girl with Down syndrome.

WINDHAM, NH — On a national stage Tuesday, New Hampshire political operative and former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said "Womp womp" in response to news of a 10-year-old Mexican girl with Down syndrome detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Texas and separated from her mother. Lewandowski, of Windham, made the comment on Fox News' “The Story With Martha MacCallum” during a segment with Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas.
Petkanas was talking about how the girl was detained in McAllen, Texas, a mile from her mother, who was detained in Brownsville.
"Womp womp," Lewandowski said.

"When you cross the border illegally you have given up the rights of that country," Lewandowski said. "You commit a crime. You are taken away from your family because that’s how this country works ... We are a nation of laws."
New Hampshire U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen said Lewandowski should apologize.
"His callous disregard for the welfare of a child with disabilities is deeply disturbing," Shaheen tweeted.
Since May, more than 2,300 Mexican children have been detained and separated from their parents along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the Associated Press.
