Charges have yet been filed in connection to a car accident that sent two pedestrians to the hospital because police have determined multiple factors didn't play a role in the collision.
Salem Deputy Police Chief Shawn Patten said investigators "don't believe alcohol or speed" are a "factor at this point," although the accident is still under investigation.
Edward Coleman, 85, of Windham, was allegedly behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck two women in the Salem T-Bones Restaurant parking lot at 311 South Broadway around 5:53 p.m. Sunday.
One woman suffered head injuries while the other suffered a possible leg fracture, according to police. Both women were initially transported by the Salem Fire Department to Holy Family Hospital, although the woman who suffered head injuries was later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Patten said information about the women's conditions wasn't available Tuesday. The names of the women also weren't released Tuesday.
Coleman has "cooperated fully" with investigators, according to Patten.
