Police: Suspicious Man With Gun In Windham Brings Large Response

Local police and regional SWAT responded to Wall Street in Windham when a report came in of a man pacing with a gun, who ran into the woods.

WINDHAM, NH — Windham Police received a report from a business located on Wall Street on Monday concerning a man walking behind the business with a handgun in his hand.

The initial witness described the suspect as a man wearing a long sleeve dark shirt, blue jeans, and a baseball hat pacing back and forth behind the building holding a gun in his right hand. As officers from Windham police approached the building the witness stated the subject went into the woods, according to Windham Police Capt. Michael Caron.

Arriving officers set up a perimeter around Wall Street and requested help from multiple Law Enforcement agencies. An alert was broadcast to the surrounding neighborhoods and several businesses that were nearby were asked to shelter in place.

At 11:30 a.m., members of the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit along with a canine unit from the Salem Police Department were able to conduct an extensive search of the area surrounding the Wall Street business and did not locate anyone.

After the incident was cleared Windham units remained in the vicinity for the remainder of the day and all businesses were allowed to resume normal operation. The incident is currently still under investigation by the Windham Police Department.
