Rutland Drops Support of Windham Solar Project

A Vermont town has rescinded their support of a potential solar project in Windham.

WINDHAM, NH - A Vermont town has rescinded their support of a potential solar project in Windham. According to the Rutland Herald, the town's Select Board pulled support of the Thomas Dairy solar project, citing "contradictory and confusing information on the project’s maps."

The board had agreed to write a letter on behalf of the developer, Triland Partners of Windham, New Hampshire, earlier this month, which would qualify the project as a “preferred site” for solar development.

But the town has declared that earlier letter “null and void” in the words of Select Board Chairman Josh Terenzini, after it was revealed the visual impacts of the project were more severe than originally perceived.
Solar panels like these are opposed by neighbors of a proposed solar array on land owned by Thomas Dairy in Rutland Town.

On Thursday, Terenzini said the board heard Tuesday night from two neighbors, Eileen Coughlin and Susan Colomb, who both live on Prospect Hill Road and said the solar panels would be clearly visible from their homes.
