1. Daughter of Local Lawmaker Drowns

The biggest Windham story of 2012 was also the most unexpected and tragic.

Gabriella "Ella" Okerman, the 3-year-old daughter of Windham Rep. Rick Okerman, drowned in the family pool on July 9.

Her death sent shockwaves through the New Hampshire legislation, with several representatives from around the state delivering their condolences.

The toddler's death was the last in a trio of drowning incidents connected to Windham.

On June 21, 41-year-old David Mason drowned after he was pulled from Canobie Lake.

Earlier in June, 44-year-old Raymond Morton died in Shadow Lake after attempting to swim across to the Windham side of the water body.
