Weather Leads to School Bus Accident

With winter weather being dumped across New Hampshire, an accident involving a school bus reportedly took place this morning, according to WMUR.

According to a Tweet from the station, the crash took place on Beacon Hill Road shortly before 8 a.m. No injuries were reported in the incident.

One parent reported that the bus was in a ditch, and that parents were alerted after 9 a.m. that buses would be running 45 minutes late.

While neighboring towns such as Londonderry and Derry have seen school closures today, Windham schools did not get cancelled. Salem and Pelham are also open.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the area until 8 p.m. with accumulations expected to reach between three and six inches.

WCVB-TV in Boston is also reporting that there was a 40-mile backup on I-93 from Derry to Boston this morning as a result of the poor road conditions. The speed limit on the highway has been reduced to 45 miles per hour, but traffic is barely inching along at this hour.

The Eagle-Tribune's John Toole just tweeted that spinouts at the Exit 4 ramp in Londonderry off I-93 are causing traffic to back up on the highway.

Police are advising motorists to use caution on the roads, as the heavy, wet snow has caused very hazardous road conditions, especially at hills and intersections.
