Woman Charged With Biting Police Officer, Assaulting Another

The incident took place on July 7.

A Hudson woman was charged last week after she reportedly bit one Windham officer and hit another while being arrested on Range Road.

Olivia Smith, 25, of 154 Old Derry Road was charged on July 7 with four counts of simple assault, two counts of resisting arrest or detention, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.

Windham Police Capt. Mike Caron said that Smith was confronting Shawn Foster, a pastor and resident of Windham who heads up the Youthstorm mentoring organization.

Caron said that Smith, who is affiliated with Youthstorm mentoring , was asking Foster for money, which he refused to give her. Foster asked her to leave his property.

When police responded, Smith allegedly had a physical altercation with the officers, biting one of them on the finger.

Caron didn't give any further details as to the nature of the relationship between Foster and Smith, only noting that the money was a civil issue.

Youthstorm, started by both Shawn Foster and his wife Stephanie in 2000, is a developmental organization for leadership in youth services, according to their website.

Smith is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court on Aug. 12 at 8 a.m.
