10 More ‘Bad Businesses’ Caught Stiffing Employees, NJ Says
As of Jan. 9, there are 233 businesses on the state's WALL, or Workplace Accountability in Labor List.
NEW JERSEY — Another 10 businesses have been added to the state's list of employers who have failed to pay wages, benefits and taxes, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor.
The state updates the WALL, or Workplace Accountability in Labor List, every month to show how much these companies owe to their employees or the state.
In total, 223 businesses are on the list — and they owe a collective $23.3 million, the state said.

The latest 10 entrants, added in January, include a local restaurant, a national e-commerce website, and several construction or landscaping companies. The state says they owe a combined $238,471 to the Unemployment Compensation Fund and State Disability Benefits Fund, and in unpaid wages and penalties.
All businesses on the WALL are prohibited from receiving public contracts, and the Department of Labor says it notifies companies before posting their name on the list. Businesses are given 20 days to pay in full, or challenge their pending placement on the WALL.

"The companies on the list have failed to resolve their outstanding fines and fees with NJDOL and Treasury."
The state passed legislation creating the WALL in 2023, and it is updated monthly. See the full list online.
