Several of these New Jersey medical facilities have been listed on the America's Best Hospitals list for more than a decade.

NEW JERSEY — Two hospitals in New Jersey are ranked among the top 1 percent of clinical care facilities in the country, according to a new report Tuesday.

The 2025 America’s Best Hospitals Awards from Healthgrades, an online resource to help people find doctors and hospitals, is a three-tiered ranking of the top 50, 100 and 250 hospitals, which, respectively, represent the top 1 percent, 2 percent and 5 percent of clinical care hospitals nationwide.

In New Jersey, medical centers named to America’s 50 Best Hospitals are Morristown Medical Center, and Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Both facilities, part of the Atlantic Health System, have been on the America's Best list for more than 10 years: Morristown for 15, and Overlook for 12.

Healthgrades said it uses clinically validated methodology that focuses solely on patient outcomes to help consumers choose doctors who practice at hospitals recognized for their quality.

Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for about 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions. The rankings are designed to increase patients’ confidence in choosing a doctor and hospital.

“While there are several factors to consider when looking for a doctor, hospital quality is one that can have a critical impact on a patient’s overall quality of care,” Dr. Brad Bowman, Healthgrades’ chief medical officer and head of data science, said in a news release.

The persistent performance gap between the nation’s highest and lowest performers underscores the importance of ensuring that consumers have access to objective measures of hospital quality, Healthgrades said.

If all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best Hospitals, 174,081 lives could have been saved, Healthgrades said.
