17 NJ Counties Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch
A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for 17 New Jersey counties Friday through 9 p.m. Two counties are under a warning.
NEW JERSEY — A severe thunderstorm watch is in place across New Jersey Friday through 9 p.m. The watch is in place for the following counties: Bergen; Burlington; Camden: Essex; Gloucester; Hudson; Hunterdon; Mercer; Middlesex; Monmouth; Morris; Ocean; Passaic; Somerset; Sussex; Union; Warren.
Additionally, a severe thunderstorm warning — an upgraded threat — is in place in central Hunterdon County and southwestern Warren County. That warning is in place through 5:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service said at 4:40 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located over Neffs, PA about nine miles northwest of Allentown, PA. The storm is moving east at 30 mph. At 5:06 p.m., the storm was located over Easton, PA, moving east at 35 mph.

The storm features 60 mph wind gusts, which means it could cause damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines.
Locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm warning include Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 8.
