24K Without Power After Nor’Easter Ravages NJ
As of 9 a.m., about 24,500 homes and businesses were without power in New Jersey, according to state trackers.
NEW JERSEY - Thousands of New Jersey residents were without power Thursday morning after a "multi-hazard" nor’easter brought heavy rain, 50+ mph winds and flood warnings to the state.

Over 8,000 of the JCP&L outages were reported in Monmouth County, which saw up to three inches of rain in the last 48 hours. Several main thoroughfares are closed in the area due to storm damage, including Rt. 36 in Eatontown and Swimming River Road at Newman Springs Road in Middletown.
Morris County reported about 4,000 outages, and Hunterdon County reported about 2,760 outages. Flooded streets were reported as far south as Point Pleasant, where high tide pushed the bay to moderate flooding.
“The steady rain and gusty conditions have brought down trees in some areas, resulting in time-consuming repairs because they require a forestry crew to remove the tree before our crews can safely access the site of an outage and begin making repairs,” JCP&L said in a statement via X, formerly Twitter.
Those with JCP&L outages are urged to call JCP&L at 888-544-4877 or text OUT to 544487.

The Jersey Shore and surrounding areas are still under a coastal flood warning through Thursday morning, with up to one half foot of inundation above ground level possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
The affected counties are Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Burlington.
“At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways,” the National Weather Service said. “Some partial or full road closures are possible.”
Gloucester, Camden and Cumberland counties are under a coastal flood advisory through the morning. Minor to moderate flooding is also possible along parts of the Passaic and Millstone rivers in New Jersey and the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania, AccuWeather said.
Another round of thunderstorms is expected Thursday afternoon. The rain is forecast to taper off Friday morning, paving the way for partly sunny skies and highs in the low 50s. The weekend forecast appears to be equally sunny with temperatures in the mid 50s.
