America's Most Trustworthy Accents: See Where New Jersey's Ranked

Analyzing 14 different unique American accents, BetUS Casino sought to identify which is the most trustworthy.

We know to never judge a book by its cover, but can we judge a person by their accent? A new study claims we can — and the New Jersey accent is judged harsher than most others.

Analyzing 14 different unique American accents, BetUS Casino sought to identify which is the most trustworthy based on friendliness and professionalism of each accent, along with financial crimes, the number of lawyers, and the number of primary care doctors associated with each regional accent.

"From friendships, relationships, business partnerships and more, trust plays a big part in how people get along with each other," BetUS Casino wrote. "In conversation, some accents naturally appear more friendly, genuine and professional, making people feel more at ease."

According to the analysis, the New Jersey accent is the second least trustworthy in America, ranking just behind the Mountain West accent.

"From the likes of 'Jersey Shore' and other notable television shows, the bold and unmistakable accent we’ve come to recognize as the New Jersey accent often brings a split opinion," BetUS Casino wrote. "While seen as very confident, it’s also perceived as a bit harsh, and with just under 14,000 total searches about the friendliness and professionalism of the accent, some people seem hesitant in trusting the New Jersey accent."
