Flood Warnings Issued In 7 Counties As More Wet Weather Heads To NJ: Latest Updates
More storms Tuesday afternoon could have heavy rain following Monday's dangerous flooding, forecasters say.

A flood watch has been issued to seven counties in the Garden State for Wednesday, as many of the areas overwhelmed by flood waters are again at risk with from thunderstorms.
The flood watch begins Wednesday at 3 p.m. and runs through 3 a.m. Thursday and will be in effect for Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties.
The storms will be capable of dropping a quick 1 to 2 inches of rainfall within a 1 to 3 hour period leading to flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly.

The new threat comes after a chaotic night of flooding so severe that two people were killed and Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency.
While the threat of severe storms and flash flooding is lesser for Tuesday and Wednesday, the saturated ground will make conditions prime for additional flooding. As much as 6.51 inches of rain fell in some of New Jersey, destroying homes and prompting water rescues.

Two people died during the flash flooding in the City of Plainfield after a vehicle was swept into Cedar Brook at the height of the storm, according to Queen City Mayor Adrian O. Mapp.
A Flood Warning is still in place for Middlesex and Somerset counties until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.
New Jersey has a 25 percent to 50 percent chance of storms Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The highest chance appears to be in the Philadelphia metro area.

Timing of the potential storms will again be in the afternoon and evening. More of the same is in store for the rest of the week.
"Unsettled weather along with very warm and humid conditions will continue through Thursday," National Weather Service forecasters said Tuesday morning. "Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms can be expected, with locally heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding being the primary threat. On Thursday, there is also a concern for extreme heat."
