Fall Markets, Holiday Lights: Events In NJ This Weekend

NEW JERSEY — Looking for something fun to do in New Jersey this weekend, before we get into the real hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving and the holidays?

This weekend you can find some fall-fresh produce for the Turkey Day table, or head out early to seasonal holiday light displays.

Seasonal tastes

Looking for a homemade pie to take to Thanksgiving dinner, or a seasonal gift? The Brick Farmers Market returns on Saturday, Nov. 18, for its annual Thanksgiving Market at Windward Beach Park is from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A Thanksgiving Farm Market in Barnegat is also scheduled on Sunday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nutley will also host its first-ever “pop-up” Thanksgiving Farmers Market for the 2023 holiday season, with a number of local vendors set up 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at Municipal Lot #7 (507 Franklin Avenue).

Seasonal displays

Do you enjoy gliding through the ice, or want to learn? The outdoor skating rink in Jersey City — a short walk from trains, ferries, and the Newport Centre Mall — has reopened for the 2023-2024 season. Click here to read more.

A popular, free holiday display featuring a million lights, animal exhibits and costumed characters is returning to the Turtle Back Zoo in Essex County for 2023. Click hereto read more.

The Monmouth Museum’s Holiday Train Display is also scheduled to open on Saturday, Nov. 18. in the Main Gallery. Model trains wind their way through winter scenery, passing festive towns and snowy landscapes “that will fill your heart with holiday joy!”

Tickets are part of general admission.

The annual Festival of Trees winter exhibition at the Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton is open now through Sunday, Jan. 7. The porches, mantles, and galleries of Morven are decorated for the holiday season by local businesses, garden clubs, and non-profit organizations.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for seniors, students (with ID), youth ages 7-18, and active military or veterans (with ID). Children 6 and under are free.
