Strong Storms Cause Travel Disruptions In North Jersey
There is a ground stop at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday due to thunderstorms in the area.
UPDATE: As of 5:30 p.m. on Monday, the ground stop is still in place.
NEWARK, NJ - There is a ground stop at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday due to thunderstorms in the area.
Departing flights are halted as of 2:30 p.m., according to Air Traffic Control Alerts. According to the FAA, some arriving flights are being delayed by an average of three hours and 21 minutes. Find the status of your flight

Forecasters warned of severe weather Monday. In addition to the thunderstorms, flash flooding is likely in much of New Jersey as more showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
NJ Transit said it was also monitoring severe weather and advised passengers to check http://njtransit.com for updates.

A Flood Watch is issued in Camden, Gloucester, northwestern Burlington, Sussex, Salem, western Monmouth, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Warren and Morris counties from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Forecasters predict that localized rainfall could reach 3 to 5 inches in just an hour or two.
"Numerous flash floods can be anticipated across portions of the region due to scattered thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall," the National Weather Service said. See below map for specifics.
