Flood Risk Returns To NJ With Midweek Storm

A midweek rainstorm could threaten half the state with up to two inches of rain and flooding, forecasters said.

NEW JERSEY - A cool, chilly week is in store for the Garden State, complete with a midweek rainstorm that will threaten half the state with up to two inches of rain and potential flooding, forecasters said.

The rainfall is expected to begin Wednesday afternoon, which will see temperatures in the 50s and periods of rain lingering through Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. The heaviest rainfall will be mainly southeast of I-95 on Thursday, though rain will last the longest towards the coast.

“Soils remain very saturated from the weekend rain,” the weather service said, noting the two to three inches that already fell on parts of the state over the weekend. “This rain may lead to additional rises on creeks, streams, and river across the area.”
