Halloween Week Nor'easter Targets NJ: Latest Forecast

A mid-week storm could drench the Garden State with 2 inches of rain, along with gusty winds and coastal flooding, forecasters say.

The lead-up to Halloween will be a wet and windy one for the Garden State, with a mid-to-late-week storm gearing up to bring 2 inches of rain, gusty winds and coastal flooding, according to the latest forecast.

Trick-or-treaters will be pleased, however, as the storm looks like it will clear out before Halloween itself.

The week will start off dry and cool. Tuesday will start seeing some scattered showers, growing more widespread by Wednesday night, National Weather Service forecasters said. Both days could see winds of 10 mph to 20 mph, with gusts around 30 mph, especially closer to the Jersey Shore.

Stormy conditions continue into Thursday, with some thunder possible as well, forecasters said. Rainfall totals are forecast to be 1 to 2 inches in many areas, with the highest amount possible along the coast. Gusty winds of 20 mph to 30 mph will blow throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

AccuWeather forecasters warn that conditions will be blustery and chilly. The rain and wind will also create poor beach conditions, including further beach erosion and strong rip currents.
