Here's How Much Snow Fell In NJ Monday
Snow may linger into the evening as totals reach 8 inches in some parts of the state, forecasters said.

NEW JERSEY — More than eight inches of snow have fallen in one Jersey Shore community as a winter storm lingers over the state Monday.
Forecasters say that some of the hardest-hit areas could see even more snow into Monday night, after periods of sleet and freezing rain.
The most snow has fallen in Atlantic and Cape May counties, with 8 inches recorded in Cape May and 7 inches recorded in Ventnor City as of the latest NWS update at 4 p.m.

Two volunteer firefighters on their way to a crash scene were also injured when another driver hit their pickup truck hit as snow fell across Cape May County.
A winter storm warning is still in effect in Gloucester, Camden, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Salem and southeastern Burlington counties until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Gov. Phil Murphy called for a state of emergency in these seven counties.

"Much of the afternoon we may not really see too much more than some patchy light snow and flurries around before a second round moves in this evening," said the NWS office in Mount Holly.
The NWS said that snow will linger into the evening particularly south of Philadelphia, but not to the rate that it was falling Monday morning.
Snow was falling at a rate of one inch per hour at the peak of the storm, the National Weather Service said. Another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation are possible in South Jersey, with all snow expected to be gone by 2 a.m.
Forecasters said that once the storm tapers off, things will get very cold, and there could be some blowing and drifting snow.
Communities in North Jersey and the New York City metro had lower snow measurements, with the NWS office in New York reporting 0.6 inches at Newark Liberty International Airport. Still, the wintry weather proved hazardous on the roads, with firefighters having to rescue one stranded driver in Morris County who was in danger of tipping over.
Several school districts in South Jersey and along the Shore closed for the day, as the National Weather Service had called for up to a foot of snow in the southernmost part of the state.
