Most Expensive Places To Rent In NJ: Some Pay Over $3K Per Month
Patch crunched the numbers to find where renters are paying the most around the Garden State.
NEW JERSEY — Renters in some New Jersey towns pay more than $3,000 a month for housing, according to newly-released data from the U.S. Census.
The 2022 American Community Survey includes town-by-town information on renting, showing where people in each state pay the most and least for their rental bills each month.
Patch crunched the numbers to find where renters are paying the most around the Garden State, and found the highest costs are concentrated in North Jersey and northern Shore communities.

Overall in New Jersey, the median gross rent amount (contracted rent plus the estimated average monthly utility and fuel costs) is $1,555, Census data shows. That is higher than the national average of $1,300.
The below numbers represent the median gross rent in these communities in 2021, based on the most recent Census data.
