NEW JERSEY — Potentially record-breaking temperatures are predicted this weekend across New Jersey. The fleeting heat will come to a quick end by the start of the next work week, though.
Accuweather forecasters say the region could see highs climb to the low 80s on Friday and Saturday. That would be the warmest recorded high temperature in the region in four decades, according to Accuweather data.
Some precipitation is possible during the weekend, most likely Sunday for New Jersey. Forecasters say that a wet pattern may expand to areas along the mid-Atlantic coast by the end of the weekend into early next week.

The warm air will not linger, however.
By Tuesday, which is Halloween, chilly weather will begin to spread across the region with daytime highs reaching into the 40s across the interior Northeast and in the 50s closer to the coast.

"Across the Great Lakes and Midwest cities, the cold air mass on track to arrive early next week may put an end to the growing season, with many spots like Chicago and Detrott falling a few degrees below the freezing mark," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist David Dombek said.
The Halloween high temperature in New Jersey is expected to be in the low 50s.
