1K+ Lewd Vanity License Plates Rejected In NJ: See The Full List Here
The Motor Vehicle Commission rejected more than 1,400 customized plate applications in 2022. See the full list below:

NEW JERSEY — We’ve all seen some interesting customized license plates on the roads, but there were more than 1,400 vanity plate submissions rejected last year in New Jersey because they were vulgar, insulting, or otherwise NO-GOOD. See the full list below.
Obtaining a personalized license plate seems easy enough. The MVC requires that you own a vehicle and have not had your license revoked or suspended. You also can't have any DWIs, or convictions for vehicular homicide.

But coming up with a unique phrase that the MVC approves of may be a challenge. Personalized plates that are too vulgar, too long, or already taken can be rejected by the MVC.
The vanity plate application spells out these conditions, warning applicants not to submit any combo of letters and numbers “that may carry connotations offensive to good taste and decency.”

Swear words and sexual euphemisms are not allowed on vanity plates, no matter how someone tries to hide the word with numbers or acronyms.
From last year’s applications: “FJBIDEN”and “FKBIDEN” were a no, “FPUTN” was denied, and both “BIATCH” and “GAYAF” were deemed inappropriate for a license plate.
The MVC also denied “Y0M0MMA,” “GULAG,” “NOFNGAS,” and “PLAYB0I” according to a list obtained by Patch.
Some submissions rejected last year need no further explanation for why they may have been canned, such as:
- FELON
- FAKECOP
- BO0TY (and B00TY)
- SHARTZ
- IMABITCH
- ZEROFUX
Several “cutesy” spellings of car brands such as “ME0WTA” (Mazda Miata) and “SUBAW00” (Subaru) were also rejected. So were license plates with other automakers, like "P0RSCH3," "TE5LA," and "T0Y0TA."
Supernatural figures and words including “W0LFM4N,” “Z0MBIE,” and “GH0ST” were denied in New Jersey. So were Marvel Comics/Cinematic Universe villains “THAN0S” and “ULTR0N,” and a few other characters from pop culture like "G0KU" from "Dragon Ball Z," "M4ND0" from "Star Wars: The Mandalorian," and "SN0RLAX" from "Pokémon. "
And, alternate spellings of words like "PR0MISE," "QU1ET," "OFFR0AD," and "Y0GURT" were denied, though this could be because someone else has the plate already.
Some license plate combinations are reserved for special vehicles or groups such as doctors, car dealers, and government agencies — this is the most common reason for rejection, said the MVC.
