Snow, Arctic Wind Forecast For NJ: See Timing
A change in the jet stream is going to bring wintry temperatures and some flurries across New Jersey next week, forecasters say.
A change in the jet stream will blast New Jersey with frigid air, causing winter-like temperatures and some of the first snow of the season, according to the latest forecast.
Friday marked the coldest temperature of the season so far, according to the National Weather Service, and the end of the growing season in New Jersey.
That air will warm up over the weekend before a cold front passes Sunday night, cooling things down to a more mild temperature, National Weather Service forecasters said.

A dip in the jet stream will allow frigid air to expand over eastern states from Sunday night to Tuesday morning, according to AccuWeather forecasters. An Alberta clipper from Canada will also bring Arctic air to New Jersey.
"Passing upper level disturbance(s) may bring spotty showers, or even flurries where it gets cold enough fast enough, but significant precip is not expected Monday into Monday evening," the National Weather Service said.

Overnight Monday into Tuesday is when things get even colder, with sub-freezing temperatures warming up only into the 40s Tuesday, forecasters said.
Cold wind up to 30 mph is the main story here, but again, a shower or a flurry is possible particularly in areas of higher elevation, according to the National Weather Service.
After that, things will warm up just a little.
"Wednesday and Thursday one or more cold fronts will attempt to slip southward into the region, but they look moisture and support starved, so little if any precip is likely. Highs rebound to the 50s with overnight lows above freezing," the National Weather Service said.
