These NJ Counties Saw Home Values Go Up Most Last Year, Report Says

Typical home prices in Garden State counties range from $232,529 up to $681,756, the latest data shows. See price changes in your county:

NEW JERSEY — As home values rose across the Garden State last year, certain counties stood out more than others in terms of how much, or at what rate. And several counties had typical home values of more than $600,000 to end the year.

Patch took a look at Zillow’s most recently-released data to compare how typical home values changed county-by-county.

The biggest percentage increase for home values was in Camden County (10.48 percent, with a $28,817 increase), while Morris County saw the largest dollar amount increase over the 12-month period ($48,093, or 8.88 percent).

Hudson County saw the slowest rate of increase (3.51 percent), but home values there are the fifth-highest in the state, so it takes a bigger dollar-amount change to affect the percentage change month-to-month.

The most expensive county to buy a house in New Jersey as of the latest data is Cape May County, where typical home values are $681,756.03.

Zillow’s home value index (ZHIV) is a measure of the typical home value and market changes over a given area and housing type, calculated as a weighted average of the middle third of homes in that area.

Statewide, the median home price is $495,287 and homes are sold within a median of 20 days, based on December estimates.
