Wife Of Yankees Executive Found Dead At 55 In Their NJ Home
Rachel Minaya, a mother of two adult sons, has been found dead at age 55, reports say.
NEW JERSEY — Rachel Minaya, the 55-year-old wife of Yankees executive Omar Minaya and a mother of two sons, was found dead in their New Jersey home Saturday, according to officials and multiple reports.
Minaya was found unconscious and unresponsive in the bathroom of her Harrington Park home at around 3:30 p.m., the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.
She was taken by ambulance to Hackensack Meridian Health Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, where she was pronounced dead just before 4:30 p.m., according to officials.

Suicide has been ruled out as Minaya's cause of death, The New York Post reported. Omar Minaya was not home at the time of his wife's death, according to Fox News.
"The circumstances involved do not appear suspicious, however a ruling on the cause and manner of death is pending," the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Omar Minaya, a 65-year-old former baseball player first drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 1978, was assistant general manager of the New York Mets from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, he became the first Hispanic general manager in MLB history when he assumed that role with the Montreal Expos. He then returned to the Mets as general manager in September 2004.
Later, Minaya served as senior vice president of baseball operations for the San Diego Padres until 2015, returned to the Mets from 2017 to 2022, then was appointed special advisor of the Yankees in 2023, according to Fox News.
The Minayas have two adult sons, Justin and Teddy. Justin is a basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers.
