NEW JERSEY - Another round of wet winter weather is coming to New Jersey after spring-like temperatures heat up the state this weekend, forecasters said.

Following Friday and Saturday’s expected temperatures in the 50s, rain starting Sunday night may turn into snow or a wintry precipitation mix Monday morning as temperatures dip into the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

The Poconos and North Jersey have the highest chance for flurries Sunday, forecasters said.

“Thinking the better chance for snow will come Sunday night/Monday morning on the backside of the system as colder air works its way in and a more favorable time of day,” the National Weather Service said in a forecast discussion Thursday.

“There may be some tidal concerns but too early to speculate on what the impacts will be," the agency added.

About three quarters of an inch of rain are expected to drop on the state by the wee hours of Monday morning, per Weather Underground.

AccuWeather meteorologists note that, paired with hot weekend temperatures prompting snowmelt, the new rainfall could bring a flood threat to the region.

"The final round of rain expected beginning on Sunday may not produce eye-popping rain totals," AccuWeather meteorologist Brandon Buckingham said. "Despite that, it can still be enough to increase the risk of flooding."
