13th Annual Zombie Walk To Return To Asbury Park This Saturday

ASBURY PARK, NJ – Like a zombie rising up from the dead, the Asbury Park Zombie Walk is returning this Saturday after missing last year to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to organizer Jason Meehan, this year’s Zombie Walk, the 13th in its history, is returning to its roots as due to ongoing COVID precautions, this year’s walk has been scaled back, with no on-site makeup artists and there will not be an attempt to set the world record for the largest gathering of zombies.

Despite the changing up of things, Meehan feels that long-time attendees of the Zombie Walk will still have a great time as the Zombie Walk is part of their lives.

“A lot of people were disappointed we didn’t together last year,” Meehan said. “It’s exciting to get everyone back together and back together doing something that they enjoy.”

Zombies can start gathering on the Asbury Park boardwalk at 1 p.m with the Zombie Walk starting at 4 p.m. The walk will start at Convention Hall, then head down the Boardwalk towards the Carousel House then heads downtown towards Cookman Avenue, Mattison Avenue, and Main Street.

Like in past years, the official Zombie Walk After-Party will take place at Johnny Mac’s House of Spirits on Main Street where the final judging for the costume contest will take place. To be part of the contest, you must be at the boardwalk at 3 p.m. Prizes will be handed out for Best Young Zombie, Best Adult, Best Couple, Best Group, and Best Masked Zombie.

There will also be a Thriller Dance outside of the Paramount Theater at 3:30 p.m. and donations for Move for Hunger will be taken at the Walk.
