ASBURY PARK, NJ - An Asbury Park man died earlier this month from injuries sustained from a police chase-related crash in the municipality, officials said.

Dishawn Bellamy, 32, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition on June 5 following the crash that also claimed the life of a 17-year-old shortly after the crash, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said in a statement. Bellamy succumbed to his injuries on July 7.

The incident took place after 7 p.m. on the 500 block of Myrtle Avenue in Neptune when two Asbury Park police officers attempted to stop a vehicle in connection with an “indictable crime investigation,” the office said. The two officers were also investigating the sound of shots fired in the area.
