Asbury Park Man Charged With Attempted Murder: Prosecutor
The Asbury Park man was arrested on charges of hitting a man in the head with a brick.
ASBURY PARK, NJ – An Asbury Park resident has been arrested after hitting a man in the head with a brick earlier this week, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced on Wednesday.
Eduardo Martinez, 51, was charged with first-degree Attempted Murder and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Shortly before 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, an Asbury Park police officer spotted a 68-year-old male from Ocean County bleeding heavily from the head and unable to speak, lying prone on the steps of the Jersey Shore Adult Day Care building on Main Street.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he received emergency treatment for severe head injuries.
A joint investigation by the Asbury Park Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office was able to identify Martinez and take him into custody without incident, pending a first appearance and detention hearing to take place in Monmouth County Superior Court.

The case is assigned to Assistant Prosecutor Matt Bogner of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau, with the Asbury Park Satellite Office.
