Asbury Park Police Arrest 5 On Drugs, Weapons Charges

Authorities in Asbury Park made six arrests on Sept. 2, getting multiple weapons and drugs off of city streets.

ASBURY PARK, NJ – The Asbury Park Police Department has recently made multiple arrests that have taken weapons and drugs off the street.

Last Thursday evening, four arrests were made after an investigation in an Aug. 28 shooting as Samir Rivera, 18, of Trenton and Daequan Fost, 19, of Asbury Park were arresting and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Also arrested at the time was 19-year-old Asbury Park resident Nyzir Ivory for possession of a stolen weapon, hollow-point ammunition and a CDS along with 34-year-old Daryl Pelzer of Wall on a robbery warrant out of Ocean Township.

Earlier the same day, city police arrested 19-year-old Jakim Collins and his 22-year-old brother Janeek Barone, both of Asbury Park, after bike patrol saw Collins with a knife outside the Atkins Deli.

Upon investigation, cops discovered that Barone and Collins both had a shoulder bag with a gun in it. Both were subsequently arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Collins received a second count on the two weapons charges for having the knife and a drug possession charge as he was found to have crack cocaine on him when getting arrested.
Barone was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
