Army Corps Of Engineers, State DEP Wrestle With Problems Of Back Bay Flooding
Feasibility study meeting will be held at Stockton University on Dec.1.

Many homes in the back bay regions of New Jersey were walloped by Superstorm Sandy and may be again by future storms.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the state Department of Environmental Protection want to avoid that scenario if possible and have begun the New Jersey Back Bays Coastal Storm Risk Management Study to assess flooding in the coastal region.
The project will focus on the network of back bays located in Ocean, Monmouth, Atlantic, Burlington and
Cape May counties. The study includes 950 square miles and nearly 3,400 miles of shoreline.

"This feasibility study will recommend adaptable and scalable projects that combine various
flood risk management strategies including non-structural, structural and natural & nature-based
features," according to the Army Corps' Philadelphia district website.
The public meeting will be held in the theater at the Stockton University Campus Center at 101 Vera King Farris Drive in Galloway Township from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 1. Free parking is available in front of the Campus Center in lots 2 and 3.
