Attempted Car Break-Ins Reported In Barnegat: Police Seek Suspects

Four people were seen trying to enter unlocked vehicles overnight in the Timbers and Settlers sections of Barnegat, police said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Police are seeking four unknown suspects after attempted vehicle break-ins were reported overnight in parts of Barnegat.

Between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m., four people were seen trying to enter unlocked vehicles in the Timbers and Settlers neighborhoods, police said Thursday.

"We are asking residents in the area to check their home surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity during that time," police said. "Please review your footage and see if you captured any images or video that could assist in identifying the suspects."

Barnegat police also took this time to remind residents to always lock car doors and remove valuables before they head inside their homes.

"These simple steps can help prevent crimes of opportunity," police said.
