Bank Teller Stole Card Info From Manahawkin Customers, Spent Their Money: Police

The TD Bank employee linked customers' debit cards and bank account information to a digital wallet she used to make purchases, police said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Manahawkin bank teller is accused of stealing debit card information from customers and using their money for her own purchases, Stafford police said.

Katelyn S. Lang, 28, was initially arrested on April 29, 2025. Lang, a Browns Mills resident, had stolen a credit card on March 16 and then used it the next day to shop at the Costco on Stafford Park Boulevard, totaling about $995, police said.

She was charged with theft by unlawful taking, credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Lang was released with a criminal complaint summons.

Then, on June 19, police concluded a follow-up investigation. This found that there were four additional victims stemming from the initial investigation, all of which Lang had linked their debit card and bank account information to a digital wallet in her role as a bank teller at TD Bank, police said.

Lang then used that digital wallet to make various purchases from businesses in Stafford and nearby towns, police said.

While working as a bank teller, Lang had accessed those accounts without their knowledge after initially helping them with a legitimate transaction, police said.

Lang turned herself in to police headquarters. She was additionally charged with five counts of computer criminal activity, four counts of credit card theft, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one account criminal attempt.

The charges were placed on a summons to appear in Ocean County Superior Court.
