Barnegat Republicans Take Township Committee Seats

Albert Bille and Alfonso Cirulli were handily re-elected

There will be no changes on the dais in 2017 at the next Barnegat Township Committee meeting.

Republican Albert Bille won the race for the one, three-year term on the Committee. He received 5,592 votes, or 53.73 percent. Democratic challenger Armando Quiroz IV received 3,929 votes or 37.73 percent, according to the Ocean County Clerk's Office.

Republican Alfonso Cirulli won the race for the one-year unexpired term, with 6,064 votes, or 59.73 percent. His Democratic challenger Craig Kelinfeld received 4,072, or 40.16 percent.

The Republicans were criticized during the campaign for outsourcing police dispatchers to the county and cutting the number of Township Committee meetings to one a month.
