Beach Haven Police Officer Injured In Hit And Run Accident
Driver of BMW fled the scene, but was later apprehended and charged on Aug. 28

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ -Police recently arrested the driver of a silver BMW after he struck a Beach Haven police department car, injured an officer, then fled the scene, according to Long Beach Township.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on Aug. 25, then went back into his vehicle. The BMW then hit the police vehicle while the officer was sitting in the driver seat with the door closed. The BMW fled the scene with extensive damage to its passenger side.
The officer was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

The Long Beach Township Detective Bureau and the Long Beach Township Traffic Safety Unit located the BMW and identified the driver on Aug. 28, with the assistance of the Fantasy Island Security Department.
Anyone with information about the incident, please call the Long Beach Township Detective Bureau at 609-361-2073. The identity of the driver has not been released.

"This incident serves as a reminder that if you see emergency lights on the side of the road, please slow down and move over," the post states.
