UPDATE: Search Resumes For Clammer Reported Missing In Little Egg Harbor, Boat Found

Boat was found on Hither Island with fishing gear on board, Christopher Hugg last heard from on Thursday night.

Little Egg Harbor, NJ - The search is back on for a boater reported missing in the waters off Little Egg Harbor this morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Christopher Hugg, 45, Tuckerton, was last heard from on Thursday night. His boat was found on Hither Island. Search efforts for a missing clam fisherman will resume Saturday after being temporarily suspended Friday afternoon, said Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Williams.

About 45 minutes before the search was called off on Friday, authorities were combing the Hither Channel in Little Egg Harbor, Williams said.

The man had last contacted his family sometime on Thursday night.

"The boat was located this morning and our Marine Services Bureau is out there conducting a surface search and we also have our aviation unit," Trooper Alejandro Goez said. "And the Coast Guard is out there with their aviation unit assisting."

New Jersey State Police and the U. S. Coast Guard continue the search this morning.

Hugg is a clam fisherman. His boat was found with fishing gear aboard on Hither Island, according to the Coast Guard.
