Dog Abandoned After Woman Evicted From Manahawkin Home: Police

The 11-year-old pit bull was "severely neglected" and a dead hedgehog was also found in the house after the woman left, police said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Manahawkin woman is accused of abandoning her animals after she was evicted from her home, Stafford police said.

An 11-year-old pit bull terrier was found "severely neglected" at an Oak Tree Lane home on Sept. 22, police said. The dog had been left their following the eviction of its owner, Amanda L. Lenard, 49, police said.

Along with the neglected dog, authorities found a dead hedgehog inside the home, police said.

Lenard was charged with multiple offenses including third-degree cruelty to animals, fourth-degree cruelty to animals and abandoning a domestic animal.
