Gladys A. Gale Of Beach Haven Gardens on Long Beach Island Dies At 92
Services for longtime educator will be held on Saturday.

Gladys A. Gale of Beach Haven Gardens, Long Beach Township, passed away on Dec. 25, 2016 at the Southern Ocean Center in Manahawkin. She was 92.
Gladys was born in North Beach Haven on Valentine's Day in 1933 to Hilma and Emil Anderson, of Swedish descent. After majoring in English at Temple University, in 1958 she married Andrew G. Schultz (1932 - 1989), a Methodist minister. Gladys taught high school for thirty years and was a department head in the city of Philadelphia. A dynamic educator, who took a deep interest in her students; during her tenure, Gladys was awarded the Philadelphia Teacher of the Year and earned an Ed. D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

After her retirement in the early 1990s, Gladys returned to the island and married her childhood sweetheart, Harold V. Gale of Beach Haven Gardens. She worked briefly at The Sandpaper and the Beach Haven Times as feature writer. A devoted Christian, Gladys was a member and lay leader of the First United Methodist Church of Beach Haven Terrace, where she also served as the editor of the church newsletter and webmaster. She is survived by her husband, Harold V. Gale; daughter Carla Falb (from her previous marriage) and Carla's husband Don Falb of Warren, NJ; as well as three cousins - Gilbert Anderson, Leonard Anderson, and Evelyn Lawrence and their children.
A Celebration of Gladys' life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 at the First Methodist Church of Beach Haven Terrace, 101 East New Jersey Avenue, Beach Haven Terrace, NJ 08008. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The United Methodist Church of Greater New Jersey, Mission Fund, 205 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune, NJ 07753 in Gladys' memory. Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom is in care of the arrangements.
