Horse Saved From Barn Fire In Barnegat

A busy day for firefighters, who put out the barn blaze, saved the horse, then went on to fight a brush fire.

A horse trapped inside a barn downtown was saved by firefighters from the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company No. 11 on Sunday afternoon, according to the fire company's Facebook page.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the barn and requested additional help from both the Stafford and Waretown fire companies. The fire was knocked down quickly and there were no reported injuries to the horse, the post states.

The firefighters' next stop was putting out a small brush fire in the Settlers Landing development. They were dispatched to the area again later on a report of a recreational vehicle blaze, with exposure to a house.

When they arrived, the found the fire was in an ATV, not a recreational vehicle, according to the post.

The fire was extinguished after additional units arrived on the scene, before any more damage was done a a home and two vehicles in the driveway.

"Great work by all members involved today and to everybody that calls when they see something that's not right," the post states.
