All-Electronic Tolling Begins Soon For South Jersey Drivers
Drivers who don't have an E-ZPass will get bills in the mail with extra fees.
It's a new year and for many South Jersey commuters, that will bring new urgency to get an E-ZPass.
The Atlantic City Expressway will switch to all-electronic tolling on Sunday, when all drivers will be required to pay with E-ZPass to avoid extra fees.
Tolls will also increase 3 percent for all drivers starting that day, according to the South Jersey Transportation Authority, which manages the highway.

All drivers will be able to access the expressway. But enforcement will come from specialized censors rather than toll plazas.
If you have an E-ZPass in your vehicle, your E-ZPass account will be billed. But drivers who don't will have their license plate scanned so a bill can be mailed out.

Drivers who don't have a valid E-ZPass account will be billed double on tolls. Bills will be mailed out 30 days after their first toll or once they accumulate $50 in fees. Each bill sent out will bring an extra $1 administrative fee and then, if it's not paid within 30 days, a $5 late fee.
The Atlantic City Expressway will become to first New Jersey highway to enact all-electronic tolling.
The Delaware River & Bay Authority, which operates the Delaware Memorial Bridge, charges cash users extra.
All-electronic tolling has been enacted for all New York tolling agencies and on key routes in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
