Man Charged In Car Burglary As Barnegat Police Continue Investigation
Raymond Maggelet was charged with burglary and theft; additional vehicle burglaries with a different suspect are under investigation.
BARNEGAT, NJ — A man was charged in connection with one Barnegat vehicle burglary as additional burglaries remain under investigation, Barnegat police said Thursday.
Police received a report of a vehicle being burglarized while parked in the area of South Main Street on July 17, according to a news release. The victim provided surveillance footage that showed the suspect, later identified as Raymond Maggelet, entering the vehicle and taking personal property, police said.
A warrant was issued for Maggelet's arrest on July 17; he was seen on foot near Route 9 and was taken into custody on July 22 and charged with burglary and theft, police said.

Additionally, police are investigating vehicle burglaries that happened overnight between July 18 and 21 on the eastern side of town, specifically Roxbury Drive and Beverly Drive.
One confirmed incident happened on Roxbury Drive around 1:20 a.m. on July 21. According to police, the suspect there was believed to have been wearing shorts and light-colored shoes.

Police are seeking surveillance footage from Roxbury Drive, Fresno Street and Pomona Drive from July 21 between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.
At this time, no evidence links these burglaries to Maggelet, police said.
