Man Drowns Near Jersey Shore Surf, Police Investigating: Report
Another drowning has claimed the life of a swimmer off the coast of the Jersey Shore, according to several reports.
LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ - Another drowning has been reported off the coast of the Jersey Shore, this time in Long Beach Township, according to several reports.
A man was pulled from the surf around 3 p.m. on Saturday at Loveladies beach in Long Beach, 6abc reported. Despite attempts to revive the man, he was later pronounced dead.
Officials have not yet released his identity.

A Coast Guard official told NJ 101.5 that there was also a high risk for rip currents on Saturday. The man’s body was pulled to shore by lifeguards just south of the Loveladies beach.
The man, identified as a 51-year-old by TapInto Stafford/LBI, was swimming with a younger relative when he was caught in a rip current, his sister-in-law told the publication.

According to the township website, the beach isn’t guarded: Long Beach Township Beach Patrol is only scheduled to guard the 68th Street beach daily in September.

Last Thursday, a Pennsylvania man died after drowning at another unprotected beach near 12th Street in Ocean City, officials said.
Officials also warned of rough surf patterns last weekend, with the National Weather Service issuing a high risk notice for dangerous rip currents along New Jersey and Delaware beaches.
