Pickup Truck Hits Barrier Near Barnegat Toll Booth, Flips, Catches Fire: Police

The pickup truck driver was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries following the Monday morning crash, police said.

BARNEGAT, NJ — One person was injured when his pickup truck crashed on the Garden State Parkway, flipped and caught fire, New Jersey State Police told Patch.

A Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south around 8:20 a.m. Monday in the EZ-Pass express lanes in front of the Barnegat toll booth when the driver lost control, Sgt. Charles Marchan told Patch.

The truck hit the barrier in front of the toll booth, overturned and caught fire, Marchan said.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, he said.

Two left lanes southbound at the Barnegat toll booth remain closed as of Tuesday for emergency maintenance, according to state authorities.

Monday's crash remains under investigation, Marchan said.
