Stafford Animal Control Investigating Shooting Death Of One Cat, Severe Beating Of Another

Cats were found about a quarter of a mile in on Stafford Avenue.

Stafford Animal Control is asking the public for any information about two cats found today - one found shot, the other badly beaten on the side of Stafford Avenue today, according to the Stafford Township Police Department Facebook page.

The juvenile cats - one domestic short hair brown and black tabby, another domestic brown/tan tiger were both taken to the Stafford Veterinary Hospital. The tabby died upon arrival, the tiger cat was in critical condition.

Veterinarians examined the deceased tabby and found a .22 round and removed it. The bullet is believed to has been the cause of the tabby's death, according to the post.

The brown/tan tiger cat has substantial head trauma, a head wound and blood and fluid in its lungs, caused by being beaten or several shaken. The tiger cat has been stabilized, but is still in critical condition.

"If anyone recognizes the cat in the photo, or has any information in regards to this act of animal cruelty they are urged to report it to the Stafford Township Animal Control Department immediately at (609)597-1000 extension 8524," the post states. "We would also like to remind everyone out there that Animal Cruelty is unacceptable and should always be reported. Thank you for your help and assistance in this matter. “.
