5K To Prevent Underage Drinking Happening This Weekend
The Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse is sponsoring the 27th Annual Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge.

The 27th Annual Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge to prevent underage drinking is taking place this weekend in Basking Ridge.
The 5K will take place on Sunday, June 7 at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge. The 5K begins at 6 p.m. and a one mile health walk begins at 5:30 p.m.
“The Twilight Challenge has been a staple in the community for 27 years now! It’s a fun evening for all families with local band Mama’s Stew providing live entertainment starting at 4 p.m. and a variety of events to pick from,” Community Program Coordinator, Kaitlin Kordusky said in a release from the Municipal Alliance. “We are hoping to have amazing weather, lots of runners, and even more support to prevent underage drinking in Bernards Township.”

The 5K race will include two cross country loops around the park and a pre-race warmup will be sponsored by Guerilla Fitness Crossfit Chimney Rock at 5:45 p.m., according to the Municipal Alliance.
Pre–registration is $20 if submitted by Friday, June 5 and the fee on race day is $25. Walkers can register for the $10 one-mile walk in advance or on the day of the event, the Municipal Alliance said. All runners must pick up their numbers on race day between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in each age group in five-year increments from 10 years and under to 80 and older. The 27th Annual Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge is sponsored by the Bernards Township Health Department and the Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse. Funds will benefit initiatives aimed at reducing and preventing underage drinking in the community.
